Hydrogen Highways
Hydrogen highways, plural, not just the hydrogen highway
is what this website is all about. As hydrogen cars are
produced and the supporting hydrogen infrastructure is built
there are a number of hydrogen highways being built all
over the world.

One of the most notable hydrogen highway systems is being
built in California, USA, which is itself the fifth largest
economy in the world. Other hydrogen highway corridors are
also being built in other places in the world such as Canada,
Japan, Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Germany and Sweden.
Because hydrogen is being seen as the fuel of the future,
much technological development is being enacted today. Hydrogen
cars, both fuel cell vehicles (FCVs) and internal combustion
engine (ICE) vehicles are being produced and tested by the
major automobile manufacturers. Approximately 60 different
hydrogen cars have been built and tested since the year
2000.
Hydrogen vehicles are not just one type of hydrogen
car, though. Other hydrogen vehicles include trucks,
minivans, SUVs, buses, motorcycles, taxis, delivery vans,
forklifts and even mining equipment. These hydrogen vehicles
will need to one day make use of the highways, bi-ways and
roadways of this nation and other nations as well.
Finding hydrogen fuel along common routes and not so common
routes will be paramount in enabling a free flow of traffic.
But, we are not there yet.
On this website, we plan to document the growth of the
different hydrogen highway systems all over the world, in
order to show how seriously different nations are taking
this technological and environmental challenge before us.
Hydrogen highways will cut down on pollution and eliminate
our dependence upon foreign oil and even eliminate our dependence
upon domestic oil. Our cities and towns will become cleaner
and greener due to the elimination of pollutants caused
by the transportation industry.
Like many large technological advancements, things will
start off slowly, but then tend to gear up quickly. On this
site, we plan to show the different hydrogen highway systems
as they develop from the seedling systems they are today,
to the full bloom of systems they will become in the not
so distant future. Many of the hydrogen highways already
mentioned are further along that you think and even offer
public refueling opportunities. Growth is exciting, don't
you think?
Germany, Japan and even Norway look like they will be the
first real hydrogen highway systems. The U. S. because we
are so large will lag a bit. But, that's Okay. We'll catch
up when the time is right. And, if there is political will
to do so.
